We prepare 3 course and 6 course dinner each Fri and Sat from May 23 through October 4. The menu evolves week to week, but the most current version will be posted here each Monday for the coming weekend.

Cost is $45/pp for 3 courses or $90/pp for 6.

The cuisine at Circumstance reflects the pursuit of craft, creativity, and an appreciation of place. We presume a standard of 100% locally sourced and organically grown ingredients and rely on whole-animal butchery, charcuterie, foraged ingredients, fermentation, smoking, and other forms of food preservation to accent our menu, along with careful combinations of ingredients in their original state.

Alongside our dinner menu we offer natural wines from near and far and ciders from our bioregion. We favor small producers who are exploring their terroir, supporting non-toxic agriculture, and typically working with native yeasts and low to no sulfites, including our own Perennial Cider. Drinks can be selected a la carte once you arrive, or you can enjoy pairings selected by the chef for $30/pp with the 3 course or $50/pp for the 6 course

Since we are a small restaurant with limited seating and parking, we do require reservations. Please e-mail info@circumstancemaine.com to book your table, up until 1pm the day-of. You can try to inquire after that, but depending on the menu, we may or may not be able to accommodate. We can usually satisfy most dietary needs except vegan diets. Please let us know about any dietary preferences or allergies when you make your reservation.

Each week's dishes are both planned and somewhat improvised, a combination of accumulated and immediate responses to the landscape. We hope to balance the creativity associated with fine dining with an authentic response to the local place and time and warm, welcoming service. Circumstance is a restaurant, but it's also an extension of lives lived close to the land, our home, and our curiosities and we are delighted to welcome you into our barn in the woods for a unique taste of the moment.
